HOSPITALITY MANAGEMENT
PROFESSIONAL
MS. LERATO MOFOKENG
Ms. Lerato Mofokeng is a 25 year old lady born and raised in Heidelberg. She comes from a family of five, an older sister to two younger brothers. Ms. Mofokeng spent parts of her childhood years assisting her aunt with her catering business and that was when her interest in hospitality developed. In pursuing her high school years at Nigel High School, Ms. Mofokeng decided to pursue “Hospitality Management” as her career. Unfortunately for her, it was not in favour with her family as they were not too confident that it would provide a stable life for her. With her love for hospitality she had to convince her family that it was the best decision for her and another thing that kept her going was the negative perception made around the hospitality industry that she felt she had to prove otherwise.
That worked in her
favour when she pursued her career at the Tshwane University of Technology.
Throughout her hard work and dedication she was nominated as one of the best
top ten students to partake on an international internship program at one of
the best hotel groups the “Ritz Carlton Beach Resort” in Naples, Florida, USA
in the year 2012. With her successful completion for her National Diploma
within record time, it proved to have been the best decision she had made. She
was then afforded a second opportunity to work at the “Azimut Hotel” in Russia
during the Winter Olympic season in 2013. In the year 2014 she undertook an
Accelerated Development Deployment Programme with the City Lodge Hotel Groups
as a trainee Junior Assistant General Manager. Her successful completion
guaranteed her a job as a Junior Assistant General Manager at the Courtyard
Arcadia Hotel. In 2016 she managed to complete her Batchelor of Technology in
Hospitality Management and she is currently a Junior Assistant General Manager
at the Road Lodge in Potchefstroom.
Ms. Mofokeng’s
greatest achievements are being a Tshwane FM radio presenter and becoming the
first out of her family to travel abroad. Her commitment to serving as a
student mentor for the hospitality department at the Tshwane University of
Technology and serving in three committees at her church. Also all of her
qualifications obtained and becoming an Assistant General Manager at the age of
23.
She mostly looks up
to her mother as she grew up without much but worked hard to provide for her
family. Her mother’s childhood stories of struggle inspire Ms. Mofokeng to work
hard for everything and she believes that nothing is impossible and she wants
to reach heights that no one thought possible.
Ms. Mofokeng’s story
is an amazing one as I am inspired myself from one lady to the next. She
portrays the beauty of following and pursuing your own dreams. That despite if people are disbelieving in your dreams, as long as you love
it and believe in it do it. You will never know how far it can take you, being
a young lady in a managerial position she is destined for success. She loves
what she does and she remains to be grateful for the success that she has been
granted and continues to receive.
We at E- Articles
are happy for your accomplishments and we wish you many more years of success.
